How are we defining published? Widespread circulation, or school newspaper level?

Let's say read by a general public and not a classroom full of people. [So yeah, school newspaper would count.]

Somehow I figured. Most people wouldn't have prose as a skill. [...this isn't never have I ever, but maybe it says something about him that he's asking her on his own.] What do you write then?

Mostly poetry. I want to write a book, though.

I've never really understood poetry. Kinda goes over my head, but...sounds pretty ambitious. [It's not a bad goal for someone who seems to come from a normal life.] A book of poems, or something else?

No, fiction. I'm not sure what it'll be about yet.

Don't they say that there's some truth in fiction? Write what you know and whatever? [That's not to counter what she's said, but just saying.]

Yeah, that's the plan. Just a matter of... narrowing it down.

Anyways, never have I ever been in the hospital for longer than a day.

[There's a slight grin that's almost like understanding. It's a subject to pursue later then.

At the question, he drinks.] Have you ever even been to a hospital?

Yeah, I got my tonsils out when I was... Eleven or twelve, I think. What about you? Unless that's also classified.

[A wince.] I've been lucky to avoid surgery. [He looks at his empty glass for a minute before he refills it.] Couple of years back I got really sick with the flu and got sent to the hospital by one of my boss's. Nothing too exciting.

[But also not the best. Hm...] Never have I ever owned a car.

[uncurtained]

Must have been a pretty nasty flu. It's good they were looking out for you.

[She doesn't drink.]

I just borrowed my mom's when I was in high school and needed one, or rode with my friends when I was in undergrad.

[crashout]

[There's a shrug. They did, but he still hates hospitals thanks.]

I've never been able to afford one, so I'm out, too. [...] I lived in walking distance from work and where I was going to school, and now I hitch rides with some of my coworkers.

[She nods.]

What'd you major in? We talked about my writing thing, now it's your turn.

Well I...I didn't graduate. So I didn't really major in anything.

[uncurtained]

No shame in that. It's not for everyone.

[But it still feels a little awkward, so she moves on.]

Yeah. [He feels like he has to defend himself though, so.] I only had a few months left. But a job opportunity came up.

[No drink from him yet.] What're we counting as shoplifting?

Do you ever think about going back? I mean, not that you have to or anything, just... You mentioned jumping around a lot, as far as work went.

[She tilts her head.]

I think the generally accepted definition is stealing something from any kind of store.

[crashout]

Nope. [That's immediate, probably the most sure he's sounded.] I didn't really like what I was studying anyway. Economics, mostly. Cryptocurrency. Numbers. Stuff like that. I don't really need it.

[He spins the shot glass but he doesn't drink. Seems like that's still the same. ] Never have I ever drank underage.

Not too interested in going into accounting or something like that?

[She laughs, then takes a sip.]

It wasn't ever really my idea. [But there's a half-smile.] That doesn't shock me.
