[He's not sure what his face even looks like right now, but he's guessing probably not great if that's the first thing she says. She steps back and he follows into the room, walking slowly and looking around the room.]

...I've looked everywhere. There's only two places he could be and both options kind of suck. [...] Three options, maybe, but one's probably impossible.

[She frowns.]

The basement, or the last locked room...?

Or the elevator shaft. [Haha. He'll just kind of drop down on the couch and stare at his hands.] ...you're sure they were both here last night?

...Yeah. We were all in their room together. I would remember if they'd left before we all fell asleep.

[She takes a seat next to him.]

You sure they even fell asleep? [He doesn't reject her, so there's that.]

...I guess not. They must have left at some point, so... Maybe they were still awake even while I wasn't.

[crashout]

[...ugh.] Carlos wouldn't have left without a good reason. He must have found something.

[I know this isn't the case bc Kyuu sucks but Junpei would think about this so here we are.]

Do you think he’s still trying to get back?

[It’s not hard to guess her real question .]

He has to be alive. [He refuses to think otherwise yet, but he's also half-certain Carlos is dead somewhere.] After everything, he wouldn't just die here.

[uncurtained]

...We'll find him soon, then.

[She doesn't want to act like she's doubting him, given the situation.]

Yeah. [He rubs his hand over his mouth, taking a sigh through his nose.] ...I'm sorry, I shouldn't have...

[Ugh. Feelings hard.] Are you okay? You're the one who saw them last.

Why are you sorry?

[She shakes her head.]

It's... I mean, I'm not going to say it doesn't suck, a lot.

[But she's more worried about him, honestly.]

[crashout]

[A gesture to the room like that explains something.]

Yeah. Sucks is a good word for it, and I'm wondering if this is going to be the last time this happens. It's been a week since we got here, right? If what we've heard is to be believed, we're out of time for whatever was going to start tearing people about.

[uncurtained]

...Maybe whatever we're supposed to do tomorrow will stop it.

[She sounds uncertain, though.]

Yeah. Maybe. [He sounds equally uncertain...]

You saw the new app? With the rules.

[uncurtained]

...Yeah. I don't think I'll be alone in saying I don't like whatever it means.

[crashout]

I don't like that there's still a few we can't read. [He's pulling out the clamshell, quickly navigating to the rulebook to look at it again.]

Sort of sounds like...I don't know. A trial? Finding the guilty and punishing them ourselves.

[uncurtained]

What if we don't want to punish them ourselves?

[crashout]

Do you see another option? Our "presence is requested." It kinda sounds mandatory.

[uncurtained]

Maybe we can figure out something different, though. Like...

[She sighs.]

It just doesn't seem right, Junpei.

[crashout]

We've been trapped here for a week and people are already dead. I think we're past the point of what does and doesn't seem right. [...wait she's a civilian. Dial it back. ] ...but it's not my favorite choice either.

So what do we do?

[uncurtained]

That's... different. That's something they did, this is something we're going to have to do.

[She breathes in.]

Try to find another solution...?

[crashout]

...if you think of one, let me know. But right now we can't even plan until we know what we're working with. [So...maybe it isn't worth planning just yet at all.]

[uncurtained]

So... What do we do now, then?

[crashout]

Go over the case notes carefully. Review what we know about the crime scene, start seeing how the evidence can be connected to a person. It's...all we can do so we don't waste a minute of those nine hours.
