Good. So whatever it was, it couldn't go there. [ yet, he thinks, considering what they saw, but. Optimism! Not the time to point that out! ] I know Higekiri and Junpei were pretty convinced it was a demon, and there's no way to completely dismiss that theory, but... Between how it affected you and the headache, it sounds like a psychic attack to me.
[ a beat ]
Not that that's gonna sound any less worrying for you, probably. [ it's a bit dry ]
[ he falters for a second as he clearly goes over how to explain things to someone who doesn't normally live through bullshit on the daily before shaking his head ]
Well... It's not any less dangerous for it to have been something projecting and affecting your psyche. [ first and. foremost. ] But headaches are a pretty common side effect of an outside force messing with your mind. It doesn't mean much right now, but I'm trying to keep an open mind to the possibilities as to what it is you guys experienced.
Last night, after I told him what happened, I think he said he was trying to make... Some kind of protective spell? You know, with blood, on the door. Totally normal stuff.
[she had A Night]
Uh, from his hand, after he bit it open out of nowhere.
No hasty judgments. [ it sounds like he is trying to convince himself. of that ] Not super hygienic, but maybe that sort of thing works for him back in his-- world? Dimension? I'm not sure what to call these yet. The point is, at least he had good intentions, if... terrible timing.
[She looks like she has 100% made a hasty judgment already, but.]
I got him to wash the blood off, and I’m staying with someone else for a few days, so... It’s handled, at least. Sorry, I didn’t mean to get us off track.
It's fine. It's important to know who's doing what in this place. That way, if I see another blood circle, I don't jump to... worse immediate conclusions.
Right. It's more something to keep in mind-- we shouldn't jump to any conclusion without proper evidence. Higekiri has experience with demons, so he assumed that. Junpei went straight to haunted and... some other stuff based on it. If we assume wrongly, we run the risk of being caught flat-footed. Like trying to solve a puzzle with the wrong pieces.
There are a lot of ways someone could've made you guys see what you saw. None of them good, but...

What does that mean, exactly?

[Or that’s what she’s taking away, at least.]
no subject
Yeah. A no-exorcism required kind, if that helps? We're lacking in the priest department.

[hm]

... Did that happen here?

Why... did he do that? More than that, where did he get the blood from?

[ it's said with a grin ]
He didn't do anything else, right?
no subject
No, it was just that. So... You were explaining the psychic thing?

Right. It's more something to keep in mind-- we shouldn't jump to any conclusion without proper evidence. Higekiri has experience with demons, so he assumed that. ...I get the feeling that when you say Junpei jumped to some other stuff, it's pretty loaded.

[ not that junpei really told him so much as hinted, but. dick's a detective. he will detect ]
Either way, the idea is not to let our own biases from previous experiences color this one too much.
no subject
[But that doesn’t earn her a front row seat to his baggage, and she knows it.]
You don’t have to worry about that with me, at least. The only experience I have with this kind of thing is through movies.

[ at the movie comment, he smirks a little ]
Weird sex stuff and being locked in a hotel... Think we're in a knock-off Stephen King movie?
