[Wherever Dick might be this morning, Beck is looking around for him before they all hear that pre-recorded message. When she sees him, she flags him down, looking Tired.]
[ it's bold of anyone to think i've ever looked at a locations and registered places enough to have a sense of where my character is, but let's go with the kitchen because that's the place with the least dicks. this is a one dick thread. ]
Sure. Something you needed?
[ he sounds both curious and vaguely concerned, but like. this place, ]
[A while after the lights finally come back on, she makes her way to the kitchen - it's not quite lunchtime, but she's looking for something small to have. When she sees him, though, she raises a hand in greeting.]
Hey. How are you holding up? That lasted way longer than I thought it would.
[The blackout, that is. She's noticed she didn't see him during that time, but she isn't sure whether that's because they just didn't happen upon each other, or whether he was gone for a similar reason as she was a few days ago.]
[ dick raises a hand right back! it's his right, and it's wrapped in something colorful up to his wrist. hm. this is fine. he looks a bit sheepish at her comment, though. ]
Hey. You mean the blackout, right? That... was me.
[While she can’t exactly say she’s in an ideal mood for company right now (it looks like she’s been crying, and also like she wants to be sick, still), she still pauses when she sees Dick looking around.]
[ he doesn't look any particular way, but that's the beauty of wearing a mask! ha ha. he looks up at her when she asks ]
The ballroom was cleared. I'm making sure that applied everywhere else, too. Human remains are kind of a health hazard, and we've got enough to worry about.
[ dick is, apparently, shock of all things-- taking a break! please clap. he's got his sunglasses on but he's still nearly fully clothed (boo) as he sits next to the pool, jeans rolled up and shoes off so he can leave his feet in the water.
he lifts them up a little with a grin ]
Never been busier. [ doesn't he look it, too. ] What's up?
[After she didn't see him anywhere at the party, she comes to knock on his door - from what she knows about him, it isn't like him to miss an event like this, and she's growing concerned. From the other side of the door:]
[ it takes a bit, but he does answer the door-- looking like he's fresh out of the shower and shirtless, so you're welcome, but also like he's exhausted.
his face is pretty blank when he sees her, like he's not sure why she's here? ]
Hi...? [ oh-- fuck, wait-- he runs a hand through his hair as it seems to finally click ] Oh, wow, sorry, I-- something came up, and I... [ he leans a bit against the doorway and gives her a tired smile ] Raincheck?
[After all that, she steps out into the deck of the boat to at least get some air. Dodging past the pools, she comes to the edge of the ship - and when she sees Dick, she looks his way.]
[ you'd think he wouldn't be hungry after that execution... and you would be right, he's looking through knives. dick. don't you have enough of them? but he turns around and raises a hand back to her ]
For you? Always. [ dick. lay it on less thick. he turns around and leans against the counter ] Something up?
[While she can't say she's pleased by much in this situation, she can't deny the relief she felt when she woke up to find the words that had stayed on her all week were finally gone. She isn't thinking about whether there was a replacement.
When she comes out onto the pool deck and sees Dick standing there, she gives him a small wave as she heads his way.]
Happy Monday, I guess. [It's not very happy.] How are you?
[That is, as awful as it seems... She can't claim to have known any of the victims well. It doesn't make it less tragic, but it does soften the blow in a personal sense.]
[It's about late afternoon, moving into early evening, when she heads into the tech lab and sees Dick there. She hesitates for a long moment; she's been giving him space over the weekend, but she doesn't exactly want to avoid him, either. Still, it takes her a few moments to decide on a conversation starter that won't be awkward.]
[ dick's got a screwdriver in one hand and a pile of electronics in front of him, and he smiles a little when he sees beck. he doesn't look 100%, but. he's trying? ]
You ever realize how much you know is entirely based off of having a handy-dandy database to look up?
[Wherever Dick is wandering around today, Beck is approaching him. She looks a little bit nervous, like she's dreading the conversation that's about to ensue. Still, she gives him a short wave, trying for a smile.]
Ah-- yeah. I did. I don't want to risk infection in this place. And we probably need to change... that, anyway. [ he. gestures vaguely at the?? cloth?? they fucking put on her face. like idiots. ]
[ it's sometime in the afternoon by the time dick thinks to go see beck again-- he'd dealt with everyone's injuries and updating junpei before passing the fuck out for a few hours once the adrenaline wore off, and he'd probably still look tired if he didn't have convenient sunglasses to wear.
still, wherever she is, dick finds her. ha ha, phrasing. ]
[She's still in her room, so he'll need to knock. Provided he does, though, she'll come to the door. By now, thankfully, she's had time to wash the goo and blood away. Her shirt is too torn and bloodied to be worn any longer, so she's wearing her secondary outfit, a simple black dress with a bird print on it.
There's a little bit of guilt in her expression as she sees him, but she opens the door and steps back slowly to let him in all the same, wincing.]
...Sorry again. I was just tired.
[There's something a little bit muted about her voice and expression.]
[ it's not that dick is actively avoiding beck, is the thing. he's just trying to give her space best as he can, after... yeah.
anyway, it's the fact that he's not actively avoiding her that means when he pops into the library, he's got a shocked pikachu face at seeing her there. right. the library. the place beck frequents the most on the ship. that library. he's smart.
dick lingers at the doorway for a second, debating whether he should leave or not. it's? probably better if he leaves? is he debating too long. she's going to notice. why is this his life ]
[She does notice him after a second, and she sighs and looks back down at her book. Then, a split second later, she looks back up at him. While she isn't really assuming he's here to talk to her, the fact that he's lingering takes her notice, too.]
What's up?
[There's an attempt to make it sound casual, but. There's definitely something in her voice that isn't usually there, something a little bit flat.]
