Impulse. Came back in time to change the future he came from, where humanity was enslaved by an alien race. Not that he told us any of that-- passed himself off as a "time tourist" who got stuck after his time machine broke down. He's the grandson of one of the big names in superhero business... which was of mild interest to the guy, seeing as he doesn't even have kids yet.

Sounds like it must have been... interesting to learn about, to say the least. Did you get it figured out? The whole alien thing, I mean.

Yeah. We fully beat back the invasion... [ god. time. ] About two weeks before I got here. Earth's under galactic protection now. Impulse is there for good, though.

[ and because she knows this beck can probably do the math on dick saying his best friend died right before he got here and the invasion ending on her own ]

Well, I'm glad. Alien invasions don't really sound like my idea of a good time.

Try and imagine an alien invasion where the UN personally invited them because they've got good PR. That was the real nightmare.

Something I've learned from actively staying away from them-- politics are bad wherever you are.

Yeah. As a matter of perspective, though, I can safely say we haven't reached the 'UN actively invites an alien invasion' level yet.

Hey, like I said. Good PR. They didn't exactly know it was an invasion. [ ... ] And didn't believe the League when they accused those aliens of human trafficking.
