[She can't help but laugh a little, but she's pressing a hand to her mouth right afterwards.]

It was a little funny. [But he pauses for a moment and seems to be ruminating on something.] ...I wanted to ask you something that might seem out of left field, but I've been thinking. Did you ever put more thought into what you're doing about that guy? From your memory.

[She pauses for a long moment.]

I know I said last time that being here made things more confusing, but - maybe that's not completely true. I mean, if I got out of a situation where I easily could have died and just kept putting up with the way he treats me... It just seems kind of lame, doesn't it?

...but it was fine up until a point, wasn't it? I know it's not my place to ask what you guys were talking about but I'm still not really sure I see how it was something you could've known would happen.

...I wouldn’t be surprised if he was still upset. That’s all.

Probably the best thing you can do is apologize when you think he's in a good place to listen. Can't guarantee it'll go well, and if he was that upset it probably won't go anywhere nearly as well as you hope, but worth a try.

[That's encouraging, but he's being realistic.]

I mean... We've talked since then, and he hasn't brought it up. I don't really want to rock the boat, you know? I care about his friendship a lot.
