Pretty sure it's different for me considering who we are. [Like. They need Carlos to catch the fanatic? That's his teammate? Akane would kill him if Carlos died?

But...he just offers it to her if she wants to listen. If she does, she'll definitely hear Akane equal parts fond and exasperated encouraging him to live and get the fuck out of the game.]

Kinda sucks I can't send a message back, but makes you wonder where they're even coming from.

[She does take a listen, and she recognizes the voice from a few different memories. She feels a little bad saying this, since it's a message from someone he clearly loves, but:]

I really doubt they're from... the actual people.

I figured as much. [He doesn't seem too terribly surprised.] The voice is hers, and the words could be hers, but if she really knew what we were doing I think she'd come up with a plan instead.

[She frowns, shaking her head.]

On the bright side, they weren't ransom notes or something. [Is that a bright side.] ...I don't know. Even if they aren't real the reminder can be nice to have. It just makes everything about the overseers creepy, as usual.

It kind of makes me think... I asked Carlos who gave us these roles, and he said he didn't know. It can't have been the demons, and it wasn't the last group, because they had similar roles.

[She frowns.]

This isn't related to what we've been talking about, but - can I ask a favor?

[There's a nod of acknowledgement. He doesn't want to, but likely they'll have to break in everywhere. But he moves on.]

I got a task from Carlos to fix whatever's wrong with Higekiri, but... I need five people's help.

[...huh.] Alright. What is it? The task, or...I guess what you need my help with, actually.

I need you to, um... Publicly share a secret or a regret you've been holding onto.

How public is public and how big of a secret or regret does it have to be?

I think... something you wouldn’t say if you had a choice. I didn’t ask him the first question, but I would assume pretty public. It’s supposed to be hard.

...right. [He's rubbing at his face tiredly.] I'll see how I can help. It's important to help him, so...if that'll work, then we don't exactly have another option.

It's a hard task, you're right. Did Carlos give you a deadline of any kind?

No, but... I mean, given his, um, symptoms - it's probably the sooner, the better. We don't want him to hurt anyone accidentally.

[crashout]

[A sigh.] Yeah, you're right. And that's even worse to think about so...I'll get it done. Promise.
