[After all of that wraps up... There's a good deal on her mind, and she's guessing that's common between most people here on the ship. When she goes out on the pool deck for some air and sees Katy there, though, she gives her a small wave in greeting.]
Hey. How are you holding up, after... all of that?
[The whole being framed for murder by a demon thing, that is.]
I'll say. Not so sure we'll be able to count on that in the weeks to come, though.
[And in any case, more people are going to die before they're through here. It's not a happy future they have ahead of them, but at least this week they sort of won. Sort of.]
But I'd rather give the credit to us than to the demon. We were smart enough to suss it out pretty quickly, and that's something we can count on.
[...]
It'll make it easier in the long run, it not being personal.
[As much as she hates to see Prompto and even Monika gone after this, it's better than four bodies. Yeah, the hosts all came back, but still. That trial was chaos.]
But I suppose we're in for it again next weekend too. Don't like that.
[It's a while after the investigation has concluded, but at least that means that Beck's had a chance to clean up and put on different clothes by the time she comes across Katy. When she does, though, in the coffee shop - she approaches her, raises a hand in greeting.]
Yeah, but... What would even happen if we voted for the wrong person? Would we still have to do the same thing, even if they weren't hosting a demon or whatever?
[It's not something she likes to think about, and she takes a breath.]
As cliched as it sounds... We'll just have to do our best.
[While some of the other rooms in the new area do interest her, Beck is spending much more time in the library than anywhere else. She's flipping through a book of poetry, but she closes it when she sees Katy come in.]
[She's got a bad feeling about this, for sure, but what's she supposed to do, just ignore this obvious call for her attention? She reaches for it...
And Beck is treated to a memory involving Katy's brother and their buds doing some chorin' and talking about the dick of a dude she came this close to sleeping with. Missed opportunity, clearly.]
[This isn't the first time Beck has come up against it, but she doesn't have a chance to say anything before Katy takes hold of the beer bottle. Honestly, though, of everything she's seen so far... This is far milder, even if she's stifling a small laugh.]
[Ohhh my god, she'd spaced on the whole memory swapping thing. Of course it was just a trick. Katy slumps back against the couch, head tilted toward the ceiling because fuck her life. How embarrassing.]
God, if only. Now that I know what I'd missed out on, it's a game of weighing whether or not it's worth putting up with him.
[Judging by the tone, the answer is no, it is not.]
[Katy is not in the mood to deal with most of the people on this ship, but she does want to check on Beck, at least. WWX is fine too, should he happen to be around, so Katy knocks on the door to their room. Hopefully she's around.]
[She shakes her head. She should probably eat and hydrate and all that, but she just wants to be numb for the moment. It hasn't all sunk in yet.
She'll gladly take a seat on the edge of the bed, though. It's nice not to be stuck in that ballroom anymore.]
She tracked me down this week out of the blue, you know. She wanted to fuck. It was the weirdest fucking thing, but I thought, hey, maybe this'll put her bizarre feud with Haymitch to bed.
[She rolls her eyes.]
I don't know why everyone's so hellbent on in-fighting.
[Katy appears to be on a bit of a mission as she enters the library, but whatever it is, it must not be that pressing; she heads over as soon as she spots Beck.]
week one, sunday.
Hey. How are you holding up, after... all of that?
[The whole being framed for murder by a demon thing, that is.]

Been better, but been worse, too. I'm just glad it wasn't me.
[Not that she's glad it was Monika, but, well. This whole process is bound to bring out everyone's selfish side.]
I talked to her after, and she said she'd just named me because I'd already come under suspicion. Nothing personal.
[She shrugs.]
no subject
[She's curious about how she's been worse - but now doesn't seem like a time to delve into that.]
If only not being personal made it any easier to deal with, right?

I'll say. Not so sure we'll be able to count on that in the weeks to come, though.

[She leans against the railing, glancing out at the ocean for a few moments before she looks back to Katy.]
Right. Even through all the bullshit it tried to toss at us... We did pretty good, I'd say.
[While she doesn't comment on the last statement, her expression grows more sympathetic.]

week two, friday.
Well, that was a lot. You doing okay...?
[After all the corpse touching.]
no subject
I'll say.
[Two bodies was bad enough, but come to find there's three? Jesus.]
Us getting picked off one by one is bad enough, you know? We shouldn't have to sort through it ourselves.
no subject
[It's meant to be a joke, even if it lands weakly. She brushes a strand of her hair back.]
Maybe this weekend we'll manage to finish it off when it leaves the host.
no subject
That's assuming we figure it out again... And I have a feeling that'll be tougher with three bodies.
no subject
Yeah, but... What would even happen if we voted for the wrong person? Would we still have to do the same thing, even if they weren't hosting a demon or whatever?

I'd prefer to never find out. I have a feeling this place wouldn't be too forgiving if we fuck it up.

week three, tuesday.
Afternoon. How're you liking the new stuff?
no subject
I gotta say, the deck's lost some of its charm after last week. This place opened up at the right time.
[She takes a seat next to Beck, but then, the glint of a bottle on a nearby table catches her eye. She sure does recognize that label.]
Is that yours?
no subject
[Looking over at the bottle, though, she shakes her head.]
I’m more of a cocktail girl. What is it, some kind of craft beer?

God, if only. Now that I know what I'd missed out on, it's a game of weighing whether or not it's worth putting up with him.

week 3; saturday post-trial; beck's room
no subject
...Are you okay?
[After that near scapegoating. Either way, she moves back to allow her room to enter.]
no subject
Not exactly, no.
[It comes out quietly; it's not an easy thing to admit.]
Where the fuck did that come from?
no subject
[Not that she caused it, but sorry that it happened, at least. She leads her inside, gesturing for her to take a seat on the bed.]
Do you want some water or anything?
no subject
She'll gladly take a seat on the edge of the bed, though. It's nice not to be stuck in that ballroom anymore.]

week 4; saturday post-trial; library
Hey. How're ya now?
[Just, like, in general.]
no subject
[So, not awesome, but - it could be worse. It could be someone she considers family, so she can't really complain.]
You?
