[OH BOY HIS ROOMMATE IS BACK!! He looks over at the sound of the door opening - hadn't been in a good mood to begin with, honestly, but his expression softens on reflex when he catches sight of Beck.
And then he really catches sight of Beck, and that look drops off his face in favor of a sort of blanked out surprise. He's no stranger to blood and gore, and there's very little he could see that would actually upset him, honestly. It's not the wound itself that he's unhappy about so much as who it's on.
In barely a breath, he's on his feet and sweeping over, eying the wound - stitched and clean, at least. But - as his hands reach out to gently touch her shoulders --]
Who did this to you?
[Compared to his usual over-the-top antics, there's something in this single, simple statement that promises swift action.]
[She blinks - at least, he'll be able to see one of her eyes doing that, even as she winces afterwards. It could have been worse, she knows, but - it's hard to hold herself together, either way. The pain doesn't really help, of course.]
There was - something in the elevator when I opened it. It hit me while it was falling out.
[But, like, mostly Dick. She seems a little bit unbalanced, but she takes a seat carefully on the bed. Her grip on his arm as they go is maybe a little bit tighter than it needs to be.]
[He is, at least, a very sturdy and stable guide! He'll leave only long enough to fetch the bottle he'd brought up from the pool bar, and seat himself on the edge of the bed close to her after.
[Stay he will! He pulls his feet up onto the bed (after shedding his boots) so he can tuck them under himself, being careful not to jostle anything around too much. After eying her injury for a careful, quiet moment:]
He'll be a fine support, at least. After a second, he reaches out to gently smooth down the hair on the side of her head that's farthest from the injury, fckin rip. That also gets her a sympathetic wince... owie.]
Complete vision loss...?
[He's no doctor, but he does at least have an unfortunately large knowledge of anatomy thanks to all the fuckin raising the dead he does. He doesn't sound particularly optimistic.]
[Something about that contact feels so warm, so comforting, that she leans into it a little. Not enough that he's making contact with her stitches, but...]
That's what Dick said. That it wouldn't get better unless I could get surgery.
[And it's not something she'd pursue when they don't have anesthesia. Speaking of, she takes a drink from the bottle he gave her, trying not to make a face as she does.
[There's a little sympathetic sound from him, but that's about it in regard to her poor eyeball...
Also BOY in the panic of seeing her face, he totally forgot she probably hasn't heard about the bodies yet! He frowns upon remembering the Everything Bad that floods back upon thinking of their recently deceased.]
—Muzet and Kanesada. Muzet was cut into pieces and Kanesada's last moments were filmed.
[It's never welcome news to find out this has happened. Still, it's easy to see the change in her reaction from the other weeks. As soon as he says that second name, she turns to look at him, shock written clearly on her face.
She doesn't say anything as she looks away, towards the ground, but her grip on his arm tightens as she brings her free hand up to her mouth.]
[If he's surprised by the strength of her reaction, it doesn't show. There's a brief flicker of something in his expression - empathy, maybe - and his hand drops away from her head to gently rest against the hand at his arm.]
So I've heard. It seems like his body was in a poor state, too.
[Just so she'll be at least somewhat prepared when she has to see it tomorrow.]
[rip in rest kanesan... the sweetest of the rapunzels.
Though he does nod a little in immediate agreement.]
Can't expect anything less. Giving us more time would just put them at a disadvantage, you know? I just wish that there was something more I could do about it.
[THE LAST THING HE WANTS IS SOMEONE WITH A GIANT FACE GASH FEELING LIKE THEY HAVE TO CONSOLE HIM so he's just laughing, light and airy, and waves his free hand.]
I know, I know! That's just the way fortune falls here. [A quiet, single beat in which the silence is - for a moment - almost pointed.] Some people are simply more well-equipped to help than others, you know?
[A COVETED SPOT ON THE BED?? At long last, he never thought he'd see the day--
No okay he reaches out for her hand, gently touching the back of it in a gesture meant to convey his gratitude.]
You're very kind! But I do tend to stay up to hours that I wouldn't want to subject anyone else to. I usually fall asleep in the middle of my work, too, so it's easier to just roll to the side where I shoved my other clothes.
[This is... this is how he lives his life... He hasn't even been sleeping on the couch, he's just been sleeping on the floor, god.]

Perhaps they took a page from Aizawa's book...? [THIS FUCKIN DEMON.] —Who was it that helped you out? [He wants to thank them...
But also, he'll gently start to herd her over toward the bed.]
You should rest, that looks awful. Should I get you a drink? Might help with the pain.

[But, like, mostly Dick. She seems a little bit unbalanced, but she takes a seat carefully on the bed. Her grip on his arm as they go is maybe a little bit tighter than it needs to be.]
...It couldn't hurt.

Handing it over:]
Here. Can I get you anything else? Ice, water?
no subject
Just - stay.
[It would be a request if she weren't sure he's going to; instead, she's just clarifying that it's the only thing she wants as she takes the bottle.]
no subject
—How is your eye?
no subject
She leans against him slightly, but when he asks that... Softly:]
I can't see from it.

[Which won't be happening while she's here.]

Also what the fuck eyeball surgery.]
—Guessing that's not something anyone here is capable of, hm?

[And it's not something she'd pursue when they don't have anesthesia. Speaking of, she takes a drink from the bottle he gave her, trying not to make a face as she does.
...She should probably ask someone.]
Hey... Do you know who it was, this week?

Sorry, it’s been - a long day.
no subject
Don't know if it'd be a great idea with your other eye like that, but you can cry if you need to. Were the two of you close...?
no subject
[Though, really, the distress might have more to do with this next point.]
Sometimes it just feels like everything is piling up too fast. You know?
no subject

...You're a good friend. I'm glad I came back.
no subject
I'm glad you came back, too. Haha, even if things got off to a little bit of a rough start, I'd have to say you're one of my favorite people here!
no subject
You don't have to sleep on the couch if you don't want to, you know.
